Clow Reed, sitting on his traditional plush armchair, remarks softly: "I fear I might make things difficult for you, young
Sakura...but I'm sure you'll be alright.
~~~~~
...And through the door appears none other than...Ms. Mitsuki! Sakura looks very startled and Eriol just looks expectant.
She takes a seat in Eriol's armchair, and remarks: "Excellent work, Eriol. It's been an honour."
Here Eriol looks at her with a gentle look in his eyes and replys with a soft "Thank you, Kaho." Tomoyo, ever-watching,
notices the looks these two are sharing, and notes it. Sakura, hovewer, is not paying attention to the atmosphere. She's
still practically in shock.
"Ms. Mitzuki-- You knew about Eriol too?!"
She looks up, and answers with just the slightest bit of hesitation.
"Yes. I met him while I was studying abroad."
This does not satisfy Sakura.
"Then when I wrote you about what was happening..."
"I know. I did want to tell you the truth, Sakura...but I thought it might interfere with you doing your best. I'm sorry."
Sakura, always the last to pick up on the uptake, finally gets it.
"No, you're right. I wouldn't have been able to work so hard if I had known the truth! Besides, you really did help me try
harder-- by writing to me!"
Kero, sitting, or rather, floating in the corner next to Eriol, sulkily remarks: "Seems like everything went accordingly to
Clow's plan!"
Eriol answers easily: "Actually no. As I said before, something happened that even I couldn't predict. No matter how
powerful your magic is, it seems the human heart is still the hardest thing to read. Especially when it comes to matters of
love."
This said, Sakura stops talking, and ponders it.
Tomoyo immediately jumps in with questions of her own.
"Sakura's magic is more powerful than Clow Reed's now...right?"
"Yes."
"So will Sakura be able to predict everything that happens in the future...just like you and Clow could?"
Sakura, Kero, and Syaoran look appropriately shocked.
"Don't worry...." - begins Eriol.
Kaho Mitzuki jumps into his sentence.
"If that were possible, Eriol couldn't have helped her."
Eriol, finding that what he was about to say was already said, switches to a different part of Tomoyo's question.
"But as you say, Ms. Daidouji, Sakura does have more magic than I...or rather, than Clow Reed did. As such, she will be
able to command power that even Clow Reed couldn't control."
Kero, still worried, repeats the earlier question.
"So that would include the power to see the future...right?!"
Sakura, just recovered, now looks like she's about to collapse.
"Only if Sakura wishes it. Otherwise, it will not activate."
Tomoyo, much relieved, says so.
"Phew! That's good to hear."
"You really are a kind person, Ms. Daidouji. Well, (switching topics) I'm sure you're all hungry. Ruby, Spinel: If you
would bring tea and cakes for everyone..."
"Sure!"
Sakura's natural unselfishness kicks in.
"Oh, I'll help!"
Syaoran, looking extremely clueless, raises his hand.
"Me too!"
Tomoyo, never one to be left out, voluteers as well.
"And me!"
And Ruby Moon dashes all their hopes.
"We're just bringing things Eriol already prepared. Forget about it."
"But- But--"
While this conversation fades into the background, Eriol looks outside onto the veranda. Opening the patio doors, he steps
into the cool night air.
"Won't you come inside...Yue?"
Yue turns around, his face full of the confusion and underlying anger he is going through.
"You haven't yet given your answer. Why didn't you tell us that you would be reborn? You even changed our memories. Why?"
"Well, if I hadn't, you would have continued to search for Clow, wouldn't you?"
"Yes!! If I had known you would be reborn, I would have searched until I found you! But...why did you make us choose a new
master?!"
"You forget, Yue. Even if I am his reincarnation, I am not Clow Reed himself. To be sure, I have the memories of Clow's
life, but that doesn't mean that Clow Reed himself has come back from the grave. There is no way to bring back the dead.
That's why Clow left all of you in Sakura's care. Yue...do you hate Sakura for this?"
Yue looks broken.
"I...don't..hate her."
"Coming from you, I suspect that means you like her very much."
Smiling, Eriol continues: "Yue. I really am glad that I came here. I was able to meet Sakura...and Clow's creations- you and Cerberus. But not only that...other things happened that I did not forsee."
Yue looks up, startled and curious.
"One concerned Yue's temporary form. I thought Yukito would choose Sakura as his first love...after all, she is the master of his true form. And I thought Sakura would continue to love yukito the most as well. But...I was wrong. You know Yukito's heart best of all, don't you, Yue? Yukito chose Sakura's brother as his own. As for Sakura's number one love...we will discover that shortly."
