Pronunciation Note: 'Yue' is pronounced 'you-ay', with equal emphasis on both syllables.

Yue-san, though he is only introduced to us at the end of the first story arc, is still quite an important character. Before Clow Reed died, he appointed Yue the 'Judge', meaning that he would make the final decision on whether or not a cardcaptor was worthy of becoming the Clow Master. Unlike Cerberus/Kero-chan, Yue did not reside in the Clow Book. His consciousness was transferred into Tsukishiro Yukito's body, and there he resided until all the Clow Cards were captured. After Yukito was made aware of Yue's presence, Yue would usually inform Yukito before he transformed. He transforms rapidly when he senses Sakura is in danger and tries to join her as soon as possible.

Yue, under the symbol of the moon, relies on Sakura for his power and energy. Cerberus, on the other hand, is under the symbol of the sun, which shines by itself. In order for the moon to shine, it must have a light source. Simply put, Cerberus is self-sufficient when it comes to energy, but Yue must depend on Sakura's powers. In the beginning of the second story arc, Sakura's powers are still growing, but they alone are not enough to sustain Yue. Yukito notices that he is eating a lot more and is feeling tired all the time, but doesn't know why. The reason is because, subconsciously, he is trying to sustain Yue's powers by himself. If Yue disappears, Yukito would also disappear. In order to prevent Yukito from disappearing, Touya sacrifices his own powers to keep Yue and Yukito alive. When Sakura finds out about this, she is distraught that no one told her, and takes the blame for the fact that her powers weren't enough to sustain Yue (and Yukito). Yue makes sure she knows that he doesn't blame her, and that her powers will soon surpass Clow Reed's.

Yue is rather cold when he wants to be, and is always serious. He very, very rarely smiles and almost never laughs. He is a bit of a cynic, and has a stubborn streak. At first, he believes that Clow Reed's power cannot be defeated, but is proved wrong when Sakura defeats him in the Final Judgement. She makes it clear that she wants to be his friend, and not his master. He slowly grows to be just as loyal to Sakura as he is to Clow Reed's memory. Physically, he looks very forbidding. Wearing white robes with touches of purple and blue, he is the perfect complement to Cerberus' orange and gold. His attacks involve blue flame arrows and ice shards; both usually effective against enemies. As well, he is capable of raising a shield which can render attacks useless. Outside, he may look cold and mean, but inside, he is very kind and loyal to his friends and masters. Yue's voice actor is Ogata Megumi (the same as Yukito's).
