Li Syaoran, is one of the main characters of Cardcaptor Sakura. He's 10 years old, and in fourth grade at Tomoeda Elementary School. He was born on July 13th in Hong Kong, China, his home town, to a family that is related to magic and Clow Reed, making him a direct descendant of Clow. He left four sisters and his mother back in hong Kong when he came to Tomoeda to search for the Clow Cards. He's tall, taller than Sakura, around 5'4" or 5'5", with messy dark brown hair, and deep brown eyes. In the second movie, he is in sixth grade, and he's 12 years old. Quite serious, Syaoran is quiet and determined in everything he does. He can be very stubborn at times, and he's not very trusting of people he doesn't know, especially if they have a magic aura. He may seem cold-hearted and non-emotional at first, but when you actually get to know him better, he proves to be quite shy but friendly. He's very good at sports, and anything athletic, and he may be slightly better than Sakura, but he always tends to mess up at the end. He doesn't know how to express his feelings very well, and if there's an opportunity to say so, he won't immediately take it, preferring to wait and find a better time or place. He's a bit of a loner, only talking to Sakura or Tomoyo when he has to. In the anime, he has a fiancee, Li Meiling (who also happens to be his cousin), and she comes to Japan and joins Syaoran in his quest for the cards. Also in the anime, he lives with an old friend of the family, Wang Wei, who comes and acts almost as Syaoran's housekeeper. In the manga, Syaoran lives alone in his apartment, and Meiling doesn't even exist.

Syaoran is what's known in anime as a bishounen (handsome boy). He's a very loyal, caring, noble friend, once you get past his frosty exterior, but he is very gullible to lies and stories that are not true. His power, which is not related to Clow Reed's power, is that of the moon, which attracts him to other users of the moon, like Yukito-san. His specialized weapons, the Rashin Board and Magical Sword + Incantations both help him quickly find and subdue a card, and he is the only one who can use them apart from his immediate family. He is very smart, and is level-headed in times of trouble, usually coming up with a plan. He is also trained in a certain kind of martial arts (ninjutsu), which helps him during a particularly difficult card capture. His card capturing uniform is green (his favorite), with a symbol on one side, bells on the ends of the sleeves, and a circular green cap for his head. His defining characteristic is that he's so sweet to Sakura after he stops fighting with her, and his compassion is something to behold. Syaoran's voice actor is Motoko Kumai, who happens to be a girl with a more masculine-sounding voice.
