Kinomoto Sakura is the main character of Cardcaptor Sakura. She's 10 years old, and in fourth grade at Tomoeda Elementary School. She was born on April 1st, which is April Fools Day here in North America, but it probably holds no special meaning in Japan. She is of medium height, around 5'1" or 5'2", with shoulder-length auburn hair, and bright green eyes. Just to clarify, in the second movie, she is in sixth grade, and she's 12 years old. The typical fourth-grader, she is energetic, spunky, and cheerful. No matter what the situation is, her motto 'zettai daijoubu' (it will always be alright), means that she sees the glass half full and is extremely optimistic. She's never talked back to her parents or teachers, and she has very few, if any, enemies. She doesn't boast, even though she's practically perfect in every way, including sports, and she never makes fun of another student at any time. She's quite naive, which is very kawaii at times ^^, and her classic phrase of confusement or bewilderment is a high-pitched 'hoee'. She's fairly popular, and makes friends easily, but has a little circle of best friends, which include Mihara Chiharu, Takashi Yamazaki, Sasaki Rika, and Yanigisawa Naoko, along with the ever-present videotaper, Daidouji Tomoyo.

Sakura is a good friend, very kind-hearted and caring, and never shifts the blame for something onto other people, but takes responsibility when needed. She's sensitive to people around her, and is very trusting of everybody, which isn't always a good thing in her case. Her feelings are hurt easily, but anyone who hurts Sakura's feelings in the series usually shapes up by the end of the series. She loves gymnastics and running, and is on the cheerleading squad. There are those that envy her for being the perfect all-around student, but they are usually her friends before the series is over. In short, anyone who dislikes Sakura for any reason usually comes to their senses, and makes up with her. She's not the type of person you can stay mad at for very long. An excellent cook, she cooks frequently in her home for her brother, Touya, and dad, Fujitaka. Ever since she was a kid, her brother used to tell her ghost stories until she was scared silly, and even now, has a lasting fear of ghosts or spirits of any kind. Her mother, Nadeshiko, died when Sakura was young, and Sakura can sense her, even if she can't see her. Sakura's family's names are all flower names: Sakura means Cherry Blossom, Touya means Peach Bloom, and Nadeshiko is the Nadeshiko flower. Her defining characteristic is that she's not ditzy or whiny at all, but rather takes what life offers her and lives it to the fullest. Sakura's voice actor is Tange Sakura, and they both share the same first name, too.
