Masaki Amamiya is not a very important character, but he does bring depth into the series. He is the grandfather of Nadeshiko Kinomoto, Sakura's late mother, and the great-uncle of Sonomi Daidouji, Tomoyo's mother. When Nadeshiko decided to marry Fujitaka (Sakura's dad), Masaki was dead against the marriage. He didn't know who Fujitaka was, and Nadeshiko was only 16, so naturally he got angry. When Fujitaka delivered their wedding invitation to him, he lost his temper and didn't come to the wedding. This was the last he saw of Nadeshiko before she died. He didn't see Fujitaka until a few years later after Nadeshiko's death to apologize and wish him and Sakura the very best. Sakura had met him before, however, on a trip to the country. She had had tea with Masaki and he had given Sakura some of Nadeshiko's old clothes. He had mentioned to Sakura that he loved rainbows, and so Sakura used the Rain card to create a rainbow for him. She didn't know he was her great-grandfather at the time. Masaki had known that Sakura was his great-granddaughter, and had enlisted Sonomi to help him get everything ready. Later, after Sakura becomes the Mistress of the Clow Cards, she sends Masaki some chocolate, a letter, and some Nadeshiko flowers on Valentine's Day just like Nadeshiko used to do every year. Masaki apologized to Fujitaka eventually, and admitted that Nadeshiko was very happy with him. So, the two of them aren't enemies anymore, but friends. Masaki's voice actor is Saka Osamu.
