Information --> Magic Items

Cardcaptor Sakura is a story which leans heavily on the whole concept of magic. The beings, chants, and the items used in the series are all magic-based. Most noticeable are the magical items used to interact with the Clow/Sakura Cards.

This is the magic Key which hangs around Sakura's neck in the first two seasons. It will transform into the Sealing Wand once the right chant is said. A common name for this key is the Bird Key or Bird Charm, as the head resembles a bird creature.

This is the magic key which hangs around Sakura's neck in the third season. This key will transform into the Staff which helps Sakura transform the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards. It is a pink circle with small white wings and a bright yellow star in the centre.

This is the Clow book which holds all 52 of the Clow Cards. It was this book Sakura opened in the beginning of the series. Cerberus is shown on the front cover, and the symbol for the moon with large white wings appears on the back.

This is the book which holds all 53 of the Sakura Cards. This is what the book transformed into after Sakura began transforming the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards. Her star is shown on the front, along with her name. I assume bigger pictures of the sun and moon are shown on the back.

This is the Sealing Wand with which Sakura sealed the Clow Cards into their card form using the proper chant. It is also known by the name of the Bird Wand because the head is shaped like a bird. She also was able to ride this like a witches' broomstick when using Fly.

This is the Staff with which Sakura transformed the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards. When transforming or using a card, the wings on either side would grow. When using Fly, she rode this staff like a broomstick, however, when she needed to use it for Sword, the wings would grow out of her back, freeing the staff.

This is the Grand Staff, with which Sakura and Syaoran effectively defeated Clow Reed's magic in episode 69. It is a star placed on a moon, with suns on either side, and large wings. Used only once in the series.

This is Syaoran Li's magical sword. He has been practicing with it for many years, and it has seen him through many card captures. The sheath is located on his back. It is used like Sakura's Sealing Wand to call upon Clow Cards, and is also needed for any of his element incantations.

These are Syaoran's element incantations. They are little strips of yellow paper with Chinese writing and the yin-yang upon them which enable Syaoran to call upon the elements (Fire, Lightning, Wind, Water). They also effectively form a magic barrier when placed upon a wall or window.

This is Syaoran's Rashinban. With it, he can effectively use it like a compass (or geiger counter) to locate the nearest Clow Cards. Though the chant to activate it is long, it is extremely effective when used in close proximity to a Clow Card.

This staff is Clow Reed's own Sun Staff. With it, he can control any type of power. Powerful beams can shoot directly from the sun and immobilize the enemy. Eriol also had the power to use this wand. It is also used to control the true forms of Suppi (Spinel Sun) and Nakuru (Ruby Moon).

This bell belongs and is used solely by Mitsuki Kaho. It draws on the power of the moon, and can break through Clow Reed's magic. It can only hold a limited amount of power, however, but it is still very useful. Without the help of the bell, Sakura would never have beaten Yue in the final judgement.
