Information --> Manga --> Story Arcs --> Arc 1
This arc consists of 6 manga books published by Tokyopop. In this arc, Sakura gains her mission as a Cardcaptor, runs into a rival, Syaoran Li, and faces the final judgement. The question is: Is Sakura the One who is capable to use the Clow Cards?
Book 1:
Once upon a magic night, an English sorcerer mixed Western wizardry with Eastern enchantments to create a magical deck of cards called the Clow Cards. These cards were hidden inside a dusty old book for decades, their power virtually wasted. Then one fateful day, a young girl named Sakura Kinomoto discovered the book in her father's library. When she opened it, however, the Clow Cards were gone-- and so was life as she knew it. Now Sakura is the Cardcaptor; her mission, to collect all of the missing cards before disaster befalls the Earth. Joined by Kero-chan, the diminutive Guardian Beast, and Tomoyo, her best friend and self-proclaimed wardrobe consultant, Sakura must track down the cards one-by-one and do whatever it takes to stop them. It's not going to be easy, but Sakura is clearly the 10-year-old for the job.
Book 2:
Sakura Kinomoto seems just like your average fourth-grader--loves P.E., hates math--but there's something about her that's not so normal...she can use magic! As the Cardcaptor, it is Sakura's job to use her powers to track down the missing Clow Cards before disaster befalls the Earth. Up until now, she assumed that this quest was a secret to everyone but her and her two closest friends, but there's a new boy in town, Syaoran Li, who claims that the cards are his birthright. According to the Covenant, there can only be one Cardcaptor--did Kero-chan pick the wrong person?
Book 3:
When Sakura Kinomoto first became the Cardcaptor, finding the missing Clow Cards wasn't easy--she could never predict where or when they would show up. Now they seem to be turning up alrmingly close to home...as if they're looking for Sakura. Now catching the cards isn't just a matter of responsibility--it's a matter of protecting the ones she loves! The cards aren't the only ones watching the young Cardcaptor. There's a new teacher at Tomoeda Elementary, and she's taken a particular interest in Sakura and her friends. Could she be looking for the Clow Cards too?
Book 4:
The school field trip is the perfect getaway for Sakura. She loves the sea, making dinner with her friends, having no homework, telling ghost stories-- and best of all, no worrying about Clow Cards! It's all a blast...until the students start disappearing, one by one! Sakura and company have fallen into a Clow Card trap! Can she defeat the unknown card to get her friends back?!
Book 5:
It's time for the school talent show and Sakura's class is putting on Sleeping Beauty. Sakura is cast as the prince, and you won't believe who the princess is! All seems to be going well with the performance, until a Clow Card makes an unexpected entrance between acts! Can our prince break the spell, capture the card, and save the day?
Book 6:
Sakura has collected all of the Clow Cards, but her quest is not over yet. Unless she can pass the final trial, the cards will unleash a terrible curse. Yue, the judge, doesn't think she has what it takes to become master of the cards. With everything she's ever held dear on the line, Sakura needs to give the performance of a lifetime.
