Information --> About CLAMP
Beginning: late 1980's Number of members: 4 Website: CLAMP Net CLAMP is the Japanese artist team which first came up with the idea for Cardcaptor Sakura. Originally, like many artists or artist teams, they began as a team of 12 doujinshi (fan manga) artists. After the first couple of years, 8 of the members decided to break away from CLAMP, and it became the 4 person team we know today: Okawa Ageha, Apapa Mokona, Nekoi Tsubaki, and Igarashi Satsuki. Their first hit was RG Veda, a fantasy manga which focussed on Hindu mythology. It was followed up by 20 Menso ni Onegai (Man of Many Faces), and then again by CLAMP School Detectives. After that, Cardcaptor Sakura was created, followed closely by Chobits, the fastest-selling graphic novel ever in North America. Other series or manga created by CLAMP include Angelic Layer, Clover, CLAMP School Defenders, Magic Knight Rayearth, Suki, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Shirahime- Syo, and Wish. CLAMP is currently working on four series: X/1999, xxxHolic, Legal Drug, and Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (a manga with one or two CLAMP characters from every series).
